Medical

The Medical Division provides products and an after sales service to third parties engaged in the medical and scientific sectors.

The Division has two operating companies:

• Vertec Scientific Limited, founded in 1978 and privately owned until its purchase by the Acal Group in 1998; and
• Vertec Scientific SA (Pty) Limited, set up in 2006 with the intention of bringing new, innovative medical equipment solutions to the South African marketplace.

Vertec Scientific Limited is ISO 9000 accredited and is WEEE compliant. It became the first overseas distributor for Hologic Inc. in 1986 and is now the UK market leader in Hologic bone densitometers. In addition to Hologic, companies such as Scanflex, Orfit, Viatronix, SwissRay and Newrologica are represented.

The Division prides itself in having a distinctive product line and services offering. Meeting the objectives of its customers and suppliers, to help them achieve their own overall business strategies, is a fundamental aim.
