Philip Edwards

I joined Acal Technology in April 2005 as an Accounts Assistant.  This was my introduction to accounting for a large company and I found that I enjoyed the challenge.  In September 2005, I began studying for my AAT qualification which I completed in 2007. The Company sponsored my studies and recognised my progress by promoting me to Assistant Accountant. I then began studying towards a CIMA qualification and again received full support from the company both financially and with time off for study.

In January 2009, after completing Level 2 CIMA and gaining a wide range of experience, I was promoted to Management Accountant for Acal BFi Central Procurement (the stock holding company of Acal BFi). After two successful years as Management Accountant and following the completion of my CIMA qualification, I was given the opportunity to progress to the role of Group Accountant with Acal PLC. The main aspects of this role were the financial reporting for two subsidiary companies, plus Group Treasury and risk management responsibilities.

In late 2011, a position arose as Financial Controller of the Medical Division. This was a logical step forward in my career and a significant challenge.  Following a series of interviews, I was offered the role, with the full support of the Group Finance team.

Acal has provided me with great opportunities to develop and grow my career and I have been able to steadily take on more responsibility, learning both on-the-job and through my studies.  I have found the company very supportive and I appreciate the investment that has been made in me.
