Business Ethics
The Acal Plc group of companies (the Group) is committed to the highest standards of business ethics and professional conduct. Maintaining a culture of honesty, trust and integrity is vital to its success and each employee is considered to be responsible for his/her own conduct. Also, each employee is expected to treat others, and to be treated themselves, with dignity and respect. As an international business, the Group takes account of cultural differences between the various territories in which it operates.
Harassment or discrimination of any sort is strictly forbidden and will not be tolerated.
Adopting this statement of intent reflects both best practice and good corporate governance by promoting ethical values. It also provides assurance to the Group’s customers, suppliers and other business partners that the Group expects its employees to behave ethically in a manner that is beyond reproach. This, in turn, should result in these parties behaving similarly towards the Group and its employees.
The Group ensures, so far as it is able, that products and services are provided to the agreed safety and quality standards and that payment is made to suppliers in accordance with agreed terms.
The Group conducts its activities with due regard for the health, safety and environmental considerations of its employees and third parties.
Professionalism, in all aspects of its business, is something in which the Group and its employees strongly believe. Bribery, corruption and activities, such as money laundering and anti-competitive behaviour, are unacceptable practices. Controls are in place to mitigate the risks posed by such practices.
This statement captures the broad principles of ethical business conduct embraced by the Group. It should be read in conjunction with the Group’s policy statements on corporate social responsibility and health and safety.
